Hi all, failed NCT on worn pedal cover. Need to replace it asap however all I can find in shops are the 3 pedal sets, at 29 euro. They are all detailed boy racer style covers, which would look daft in my girly car!
Due to work hours I am not able to get to any breakers yards, so was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to where I could source a single pedal cover?
Kinda broke after putting serious money into car, hence not wanting to fork out the 29 for the ugly pedal 3 pack...

Any help/info/advice will be greatly appreciated!

I picked up pedal rubbers on ebay last time I needed them. What car is it?

I got some off ebay but you can ring local motor factors or try micksgarage and similar.

Thanks lads, its a Hyundai coupe. Checked micks garage no joy, and eBay and amazon have ones in America but none in UK for my car. (there were universal ones but out of stock and I need them in next few days)
Not really keen on the postage costs for getting ones from US. May as well buy the fancy ones in halfords etc then, works out similar price. I just want plain rubber though if at all possible!

Because of my working hours I wont get anywhere near a breakers yard during their opening hours, so thats out. Thanks for help hopefully I can find them somewhere

    Have you tried Hyundai?

Bring your pedal rubber in to a motor factor close to you, they may have generic rubbers that will fit.
Or even better, approach a brand dealer as George said.

I tried a few motor factors near me, only have the fancy steel/ coloured sets of 3, all priced at about €30.
I will give Hyundai a buzz tomorrow, maybe if I pay over phone they will post it to me, nearest dealer is miles from me so I will need take a half day to get there in open hours.

Gah im being lazy too dont want to drive half a day to get a part, and I dont want to fork out so much for 3 gammy looking blue steel pedals haha

Most dealers will post parts no problem. In fairness it doesn't make much sense to spend half a day and €40 on petrol to get a €10 pedal rubber!

Thanks George, yeah basically thats what I dont want, it would cost fortune to replace it if I have drive around for miles.
I will call the nearest dealer tomorrow and hopefully they will post it :-)

    sorry about hijacking your thread.

would no rubber on accelerator pedal be NCT fail ??

    ta

Not mentioned in manual so not checked by NCT.
    http://www.ncts.ie/pdf/NCT%20Manual%20Revise%20May%202012.pdf
The reason (I assume) for the brake rubber to be mentioned is that the brake is more "important" than the accelerator from a safety point of view.

Exactly why I need it, it was a fail/refusal though its only visual retest. Am going out of country for few days need retest by end of April, hence the need for it asap!!!

Raging it failed on that and the wipers (which were fine I thought)

And its just gone off the clutch, accelerater and brake pedal covers intact and present.

Mad, the accelerator pedal is not mentioned in the manual so shouldn't be a part of the test.

    edit, ok different pedals mentioned.
Clutch is mentioned as a fail in manual "1. clutch pedal anti-slip device."

Re-reading the manual I see "Throttle Control
12 Sticking, binding or excessively worn."

Seems they have covered all pedals, clutch, brake and accelerator.

    hi
You can definitely get the pedal rubbers off Hyundai dealer as mentioned earlier, and the cost would be minimal I'm sure.

Yeah I called one dealer but they had none needs to be ordered ( and then vat added) so it seems I am better off buying the gammy looking 3 set in motorfactors as its minimal price difference...

Boy racer car interior here I come

Called into a small garage on a lane near work, got a pedal cover for a fiver! Called in regarding different issue, and luckily they had decided recently to do auto parts. So after all my worry I finally got one, and was no real issue at all.

    Brilliant.

Just for anyone else's information - this happened to me on the clutch as in I needed a visual retest, failed on the Sunday morning, in liffey valley, and had to drive over to Square motor factors at the topaz outside the square who had generic pieces of rubber that fits most vehicles.
