Hi. Took out some fir tress last year to make a lane way and wanted to plant hardwood in there place. When is the latest date for planting. Was thinking about planting ash oak beech maybe 10. Any recomodations of suppliers I want as mature as possible. Also have stretch of copper beech hedging to plant when is latest it can be done.

You'd want to be getting them as soon as you can. Usually any month with an R in it was the rule.
Although rain is expected-and badly needed-we may not get any, and you don't want toe plants drought stressed if we have another drought.
Define "mature". You can get large rootballed trees or potted trees or bare roots.

Hi you can plant til around 20 April bareroot as all plants are behind and still dormant with this cold weather. You can get good value in trees up to 8 ft either bareroot or potted.Bigger than this can be planted rootballed but price increases comparitively.
Bigger ones can get easily stressed and do not always establish as quickly though there is good value to be had in them at the moment also.(You cant plant Ash at the moment as its banned under Chalara Disease)
We are in this business but I dont want to quote our website here as Im not sure its allowed here but if you pm me I will send you the link and even though I say so myself it is a very informative Irish based site.
