Parked my impreza outside the snooker hall in Fermoy last wednesday night. At about half nine, I heard a subaru revving up outside. I did'nt look out at the time unfortunatly, I might have seen the reg. Long story short, when I returned to the car at ten thirty, the two front foglight covers were missing.
It is easy to put 1 and 1 together here. 1 and 1 equels 75 sterling for a new pair from ebay.co.uk and get them sprayed after that.
I went to the cops, told them my story. They will check tha cameras in the town for the timeframe and check their database for any black 03 imprezas registered in the area but Im resigned to the fact that I will have to foot the bill.
If anyone has a set of foglight covers or a set of fog lights that would fit a 03 impreza send me a PM. Cheers.

Bad luck...but that could happen anywhere, dropped a mate to his car parked outside main entrance to a hotel one evening....it was sitting on the ground with no wheels. Most CC TV cameras are **** quality too.

I don't know what it is about those 1.6 imprezas but scumbags luv them. Suggest you get a proper STI RA, Jackeens are scared of that kind of power so you should be safe with one..

I had to read that twice to understand what you meant. No offence dude, but a bit of care with punctuation & spelling wouldn't go astray.

I can't imagine Dubliners are traveling to Fermoy to steal fog light covers. You'll find it's home grown scum or kids with sticky fingers.

Ah sure Dubs are all skangers right!

Is it any wonder we run the country when the mindset of the famine survivors is such !

I think your own comment about famine survivors kind of contradicts your point a little.....:)

My Uncle came out of a hotel in Sligo a few years ago to find both front foglights missing along with the connectors and a few inches of wiring on his E39 523i. Somebody with an E39 without fogs must have thought "they look nice, I'll have me them for my car!".

Also I don't bother with dust caps on my alloys anymore as they are always getting nicked. Fcuking petty and annoying.

I don't bother with dust caps any more since the 4 on my car were nicked while it was still in my garden!!!! They were expensive machined alloy ones and had been on the car for absolutely ages. I washed the car on the Saturday morning, went to Cork with a friend in his car that afternoon and when I checked my car on the Sunday they were gone.... I think it is kids that take a liking to them for their bicycles.

I have also had the towing eye cover off the back of my Volvo nicked. Could not see the point of that one TBH because it is not body coloured (which might be more understandable if it had been). Cost me €8 to replace it so I really don't see the point of stealing small items from cars instead of putting the bloody effort in and buying them honestly. Sometimes I fear for the future of humankind if this is the kind of petty rubbish that happens on a regular basis.

A friend of mine had his Starlet Glanza broken into outside his house a few years back and the toe rags nicked the stereo and the button for the Hi/Lo Boost on the turbo (these cars have one to control the boost on the turbo for some reason). Whatever about the stereo (it had DVD and SatNav so pretty fancy) but the BUTTON was just taking the mickey. Cops came and didn't even take fingerprints despite the fact you could clearly make them out with the naked eye on the car!

OP, I thoroughly sympathise with you but perhaps it is just as well you didn't get them in the act as if they are willing to nick them they might be willing to have a go at you as well.... I'm not saying it was right for them to steal the parts in the first place.

my sister in law had a full Alpina body kit taken from her E36 coupe in a car park years ago. Nothing was ripped off, carefully unscrewed etc .. Front splitter; spoiler, side skirts, badges and they destroyed the centre covers for the wheels when they tried to pop off the covers without the key.

The bizarre thing is that she never noticed until her husband pointed it out to her when she got home

Few years ago I had an old fiesta and always parked it at the side of my house which is in the middle of a large estate, i got into it one morning and suddenly realised my seat covers and floor mats were gone, some scummer had bent down passanger door with a bar and stolen them. Had to get full door replaced, for some seat covers and floor mats, was livid. Other than that ive recently had my ford badge nicked off the bonnet.

A few weeks ago I noticed the driver side keyhole of my Corolla was sharp to touch, and in comparrison to the passenger one it was maybe 4 mm wider. Looked like a screwdriver job.

I think that's as far as they got thank God. Worst part is there's nothing in the car worth taking :P but it'd have you feeling paranoid for a while!

Being Fermoy you may be lucky enough, The place is full of Guards. I'v never known a town to have as many for its size, I don't know the snooker hall but more than likely its got cameras outside as most places nowadays do.

Pain in the behind for you OP.

I had a starlet many moons ago that was broken into. The vandals took all my CD's out of the glove compartment, went through all of them and didn't even bother to take any of them. I took it that Whitney Houston, Simon & Garfunkel and Boyzone weren't to their liking....

Many years ago, when we lived in London, OH got into his VW Transporter van parked outside the house and found someone had broken into the van and removed the whole dashboard.

Not uncommon unfortunately. Were you parked on Market Street or Bridge Street by any chance?

Several years ago a French student tried stealing the alloy dust caps off my car. The car was parked outside a pub I did security in, so the kid was caught by one of my colleagues. By the time I got there the owner of the bar was translating for the bouncer, explaining that if he didn't piss off fairly quickly he'd be carted the 100 yards to the local cop shop.

I don't think that that kid will ever touch someons elses car again. :D

Someone stole a set of panniers of my bike last year in Derry city outside a supermarket.

I wouldn't mind but they were worthless rubbish, cost about a tenner in a bargain discount shop years ago and lived permanently on my commuting bike, were well used, ripped, torn and held together with Duck tape and cable ties and I had them cable tied on to the rack so not that easy to remove. They left the puncture repair kit which was the only item inside at the time and of more value than the panniers. It made me realise that some people will steal anything no matter how little the value.

Don't get me started on the idiot who once took my wiper blades when I spent a weekend in Galway.

Apparently that's rampant in Dublin airport especially on higher end cars that take a custom blade.

to be fair those types of places tend to attract the worst of society in this country , especially at night. Chances are some scrote inside called his mates around after seeing the cars.

Even worse, down Woodquay. Just before the rowing club there. A bad idea really considering I have a college permit and they're fairly lax on overnight parking these days but I didn't want to risk it. Won't be leaving the car in town overnight again anyway!

I remember last year I returned to the car after shopping, and noticed the rear wiper arm and wiper was missing completely from the back of my avant, I was absolutely livid that it could happen in a busy shopping centre carpark. I was fuming for 3 hours after it.

When I got home, i opened the boot to see it sitting there looking at me. Seemingly enough, the guy who was valeting the car earlier said it "fell off" when it was washing it.

    :)

OK, I put the feelers out. There is only one black Impreza registered in the vicinity. I've been to the guards. They are going to have a look at the car discreetly.

Over the years I have had multiple things stolen from cars.

    Side Mirrors
    Hubcaps
    Wiper Blades
    Wheels
    Wiperblades
    Side indicator lights.
    Badges
    Trim pieces
    Dust caps...

Worst was I had the rear number plate and side mirror stolen of a car I had parked outside the cop station on Henry Street in Limerick.......

Never had one broken into though....
