    Friday, April 5th at 10pm
The Gambler is a new documentary from award-winning director Ross Whitaker (Saviours, When Ali Came To Ireland) that follows Irish professional gambler John O’Shea for one year and will screen on Setanta Sports on Friday night, at 10 pm.

The documentary follows O'Shea from his appearance at the Irish Poker Open through to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, and covers some pretty significant wagers in between while all the time examining what it's like to live the life of a professional gambler.

I set it on Sky+ this morning, looks great.

Also worth noting that it's listed as a freeview program, so it should be available even if you don't have a Setanta subscription (hopefully!)

Im in work this evening so would like to be able to watch this streaming, any ideas if a Setanta Ireland Stream is available anywhere?

I think you can stream Setanta through Eircom site online if you're a customer with them but apart from that they don't offer an online streaming service.

just saw it there now. he said between himself and his mates there was about 1/4 million on the bayern match ?

interesting show , would like to know how he go the money to get started in it , was it off his dad or did he ever have a job ..

he might have a different psychology about it if he ever realized how hard it is to earn the sort of money he bets

They mentioned in the documentry that he trained in KPMG, he wouldnt have been on good money while training so he must have worked his way up from small stakes.

Surprised how much he seemed to bet on a whim on sports he said he didnt understand or watch, while I can understand the mentality of pro poker players or people who follow movements in the markets for football or other sports I find it hard to understand the kind of money he was putting on sports he had no knoledge of seemingly on a whim or opinion of a friend.

On the opinion of friends who happen to be the best sports bettors in the country in their various areas of expertise.

His performance on the Late Late didn't do anything to endear me to him

More down to Ryan's awful interview technique, if you watch the actual documentary he comes across as a really genuine guy who just happens to have a very unique way of making money. There was one point in the interview where he tried to mention about thanking people who donate organs but Ryan pretty much ignored him.
