    Hi,
Got a health check report on my Galaxy and the rear tyre thread depth outer/middle/inner (mm) is 2.0/2.0/2.0 on near side and 5.5/5.5/5.5 on off side.

I'm 99.9% sure that these tyres have been paired since I bought them (I've no spare so I couldn't have changed one).

Does this seem strange? What could be the cause?

And finally, seems a shame to replace the better one. Should I look for a used tyre with a similar thread depth???

    Thanks a million.
    /M.

Could a garage have rotated the tyres on one side only during the last service - have you checked the tread depth on the front tyres?

Have you been driving around in circles?

    :D

Is there any marking/date on the tyres or something that would confirm or at least indicate that I bought them together?

I don't think it was rotated.

Could it have been a sticking brake pad or something that would cause it to wear quicker?

Very odd to wear so evenly.

The 4 main things that cause excessive tyre wear are
    - Under/over inflation
    - Tracking
    - Wheel spins/drifting :pac:
    - Bushings

I'd get the suspension bushings checked.

A knackered shock on that side might cause it also.

First things first - does it look more worn than the other?

Further down in my health check report:

"Rear suspension: both trailing arm bushings worn and peeling"

Maybe it's (much) worse on the near side then?

Thanks. If I knew anything about cars I might have spotted that earlier :(

Ah, didn't read well...then it's the bushings. Have them replaced; Worth checking the front tires too, they might also been swapped at some point and the garage never told you :)
