Anyone know whats the situation about applying for back to education allowance, I meet the 9 months of being on JA, and am going to second year of a course and know im guaranteed to have a place come september. Would they accept my application now if I went down or does it have to be five minutes before I walk into the college they will even look at me.Thanks

It might depend on where you are in the country. I know Drogheda sw office sent mine back (applied June, I think) and said re-apply in August.

You don't say how (and when) you completed year one of the course - just advising you to be aware of the following (from www.welfare.ie):

    Undergraduate courses

In general you must be starting your third-level course at year one. However, you can apply for BTEA if you:

Did not complete your course and are returning to the second or subsequent year of your course.
Are exempt from part of your course because of a qualification you received in a previous course. For example, you have a higher certificate in a course that you now wish to pursue to degree level.
Completed some of your course as a part-time student, but are now getting a jobseeker's payment and will continue your course on a full-time basis.

NB. There is absolutely no point in you applying now for a course due to start in September.
