    Hi I'm just curious to the length of time a part time employe must receive no hours of work to be considered dismissal, Which could be deemed as unfair.

    Also if the employee does not make contact with the employer over the issue will this effect the length of time or is it up to the employer to contact the employee

    Also is it the employees responsibility to ensure they are aware of the hours they have been rostered on or is it the employers responsibility to ensure the employee knows when the have to be at work, and does this change where shifts are altered or removed.

    Are you Part-Time or Casual? its a big difference. Also, check your contract of employment, as if you're on a casual contract, they legally do not have to give you hours as an employee. You're best bet is to contact a solicitor ASAP as if you're taking a unfair dismissal claim, you've only a short window frame in order to make a claim, usually 6 months, 12 with reasonable cause. you must also have at least 52 weeks of service (1 year), otherwise you cannot make any such claim against your employer
