    Lads,
What diesel cars after 08, are in the low car tax. Preferably looking for a 2 litre diesel with low tax if possible as my current tax of 710 a year is robbing me.

    Any suggestions for me ?

At the risk of repeating a million threads on here.

If the tax price is the only reason you want a post 08 diesel, then chances are that you don't actually need one.

Your annual mileage and the type of driving you do as well as how long it will take the tax saving to add up to the amount you will spend to change cars are the main things you need to consider IMO.

Spend thousands of euro on a post 08 car to save a few hundred a year on a car that may be in need of hundreds of euros of repairs to replace a perfectly working car???

I was talking to a guy at the weekend who traded his 06 Laguna for a 08 for the low tax!!! He reckoned he got a great deal at 10K to change.

    Because possibly he really did.
Pre 2008 car with high tax will most likely depreciate like mad in the next few years.
Also assuming he changed petrol for diesel, he is going to save on fuel double or tripple what he saves on tax.

Also for a bit more cash, he might have a nicer car.

Some people are genuinely brain dead.

At a €300 a year tax saving it will take over 33 years to break even with the €10k spent to change!

I wonder what state an 08 Laguna will be in in 2046?:P
