, I have bought a 2001 punto recently. Just a few small things to sort out in it so I was hoping someone here could help me out , 1. I was on a long spin in it the other day and on the way back I noticed a squeak in the front passenger side wheel. It starts when you hit about 40 mph. I was thing maybe a wheel bearing needs replacing. Would I be right?

    2. When you start the car it sounds like fluid gushing around the car. Only way I can describe it is like turning a bottle of water upside down.

    3. When I start it in the mornings it is very slow to start up. When you get it started it is fine for the rest of the day. Could this be sorted with a change of battery?

Any help here would be great.

With regard to two, mine did that on startup every day for 4 years. Once yours has been bled and isnt loosing coolant then you'll be fine.

Three looks like battery, particularly in the cold weather. Starters in those Punto's can get a bit lazy when cold and behave a bit like that too. Check battery with voltmeter and see what its got

1: check the wishbones and trackrod ends

2: a symptom of an imminent hg failure. 8v or 16v?

3: the electronic steering saps a load of power, a new bigger battery helps immensely

    :)

    Hi there
There doesn't seem to be a leak of coolant I checked the levels and seem to be fine.

    I'm not sure if it is 16v or 8v all I know it's a
1.2 petrol. Hope to god it's not the head gasket. Probably cost a fortune.

I can't link photos as I'm on a phone, easy to tell apart. Hg isn't dear or difficult to do just time consuming

I do have punto myself. It could be just rain water under the bonnet .Those drain holes getting blocked some times ...Easy to clean it with the stick though :)

    Hi guys ,
I undone the bleed nipples on the radiator of the punto and completely drained it. I then started to refill the coolant until it ran out of the bleed nipples. It seems to have done the trick.
