Pay question

I have a question about how my pay should have been worked out for the month of March as I was absent for 14 days due to injury.
Each month I am paid €2200 regardless of how many days in a month. This is calculated based on €14.50 per hour, by 35 hours a week (€507.50) multiplied by 52 for the weeks in a year (€26,390) and divided by 12 for the months (€2199.16) they round that up to €2200 each month.
So by my calculations in March I should have been paid €2200 - €1421 (14 days absent) = €779
Instead I was paid €710.50 for the 49 hours (7 days) I did work during march.
Who's correct me or my boss?
    Thanks

I would have calculated it at €733.33

They have actually rounded it down as there are 52.18 weeks per year so it should be €2,206.78 per month.

Hi thanks for the reply, have I made a maths error in my calculations? Or is your way of working it out different?
I don't want to contact my boss about it until I know what I should be saying.
    Thanks

Is your actual rate of pay hourly or salary?

Salary I think as its the same each month, i'm paid on the last friday of each month sometimes thats 4 weeks and sometimes its 5, but if I work overtime I would be paid for that per hour and that would be added to the standard amount.

I worked it out using (2200/21)*7

That would be my take on it if you're a salaried employee but not paid for sick days

    I'd work it out :

    monthly €2,200.00

    annual €26,400.00

    weekly €507.69
    hourly €14.51

    hrs worked €710.77

same as yr boss - we pay for hours worked, not hours not worked.

I worked the leap year day in 2012 and didn't get any extra for that, so I don't know about being paid for hours worked ....
I probably just have too much time on my hands now most of the time I don't really look at my payslip properly.

we don't pay for leap year days either or for the extra hour worked at end of daylight saving but we don't deduct for the hour less at the start of daylight saving either. most salaried jobs I've had to deal with do the same - the only time the monthly pay differs is when time at` own expense' comes into the equation.

No harm in asking your payroll office how they worked it out anyway to be clear in your own mind in case something similar happens again. no one minds a constructive question

Thanks for that I suppose I'm curious about it because if I was absent for 2 or 3 days it would have been 'monthly pay less the few days'
I wonder do they have a cut off point where they start working it out the other way around.
There's no pay role office I just have to ask my boss about it and see what his answer is.
