Building a new gaming PC from scratch.

1. What is your budget? 1000ish(I can probably stretch to 1,500)

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer?Gaming(Battlefield 3/4, Starcraft, Rome II, Civ IV etc)

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yup

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

5. Do you need a monitor? I don't think so, I've got a 32 inch Samsung with a HDMI input that I think i could use.

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Keyboard and mouse.

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Yup

8. How can you pay? Credit Card

9. When are you purchasing? Some time in the next month or so.

I went with AMD for the sake of variety, you won't be able to tell the difference between the FX 8350 and the i5 3570k in games.

Hey thanks for the simultaneous replies, and sorry bout the late reply but i managed to smash my laptop's screen a few hours after i bumped and I only got it back from the repair place today Thank god I don't have to surf the web on my crappy phone now

I've never actually built a desktop from scratch before but I've been tinkering around with computers for years and I'm sure I'll be able to use youtube to bail me out if I get tangled up in wires

I've been looking at HVS and i see they have a Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 OC Boost for 370 and i was thinking about picking up another and crossfiring them in a few a few years to future proof it. Would I need to get a bigger case for that?

And this might sound a bit retarded but won't the plug I get from Germany be a two pronged plug?

The 7970 is not good value. You are getting 10% max performance over the 7950 and paying €100 for that 10%. The 7950 is a far better option for around €260-270.

If you are considering 2 gpu's then you will need a better psu and a better mainboard. Looking at around €60-70 more for these.

I'd also recommend going Nvidia if you do decide to go dual gpu as crossfire still has severe latency issues. A 660ti or 670gtx would be the cards to go for.

The plug will be a 2 pin German plug yes. You can either replace it or use an adaptor or just buy a psu on Amazon.

Would I need more than one fan when using the nanoxia deep silence one? I've gotten e boggles rig with the 7950

It comes with 3 fans afaik. Would be no hard adding a couple more if overclocking.
