I have a 100 voucher for Mitchell's in waterford and am not sure how to spend it. I'm swaying towards adding another 100 and getting a GPS watch. Are they any use? My clubs are all god, although I do have room for one more. I don't particularly feel a need for a hybrid or lob wedge though. Anything else I should think about?

    An extra pair of shoes?

I bought myself a pair of those studless shoes out of a voucher when i didn't really need anything. I must say they're very comfortable. Will be handy when the ground gets firmer.

I had the same issue recently blue note, I had a €100 voucher for halpenny and added €70 to it and got the garmin neo+ watch. watch works great, can't fault it. It's bang on with distances as my usual playing partner has a laser range finder and it gives the exact same results to front middle and back. The only thing is getting use to playing golf with a watch on your wrist. if you don't normally wear a watch while playing it might feel strange for a while but you soon get use to it.

    Thanks all.

I have decent wet gear - I could get a better jacket, but I'm happy enough with the one I have.

I don't mind buying a dozen balls every couple of months, so don't really want to by 5 dozen in one go.

I have a pair of shoes that are waterproof and comfortable, so don't feel a need for a second.

€100 worth of tees is an excellent suggestion which I can't come up with a reason to ignore.

However, I think I'll go with the watch. Is there a difference between bushnells and Garmin for them?

I was told the difference between them is that bushnell map the courses themselves and garmin use google maps ? The reason I went for the bushnell was that it was €30 cheaper at the time. I’ve used it 3 times so far, corballis, luttrellstown and knightbrook and it’s been spot on each time.

Thinking about it now I may have fallen for some of that famous sales guff that’s being discussed in the other thread. Ha.

Bushnell v2 or GPS gets my vote. Different people swear by either just depends on which kind you'd be more into. I got a GPS this January and I have seen a big improvement in my ball striking. I feel like it has taken out the doubt I otherwise might have had going for the green. "Feel like" not scientific mind you but important in golf nonetheless.

I got the basic Golf Buddy about 6 months ago & find it great. Belt clip fits on to a strap on top of the golf bag so very easy to have a quick look at it. All I use it for is to see front middle & back of green and sometimes check how far hazards are, say water if I want to judge a lay up. Really speeds up the game as not looking for markers etc and knowing the distance takes indecision about distance out of your head.

Personally I've never worn a watch playing golf so watch version would not suit.
