    Morning All

Just a quick one for anyone who may know - I have fully comp insurance with RSA (underwritten by Kennco), with windscreen cover. Have a chip that needs to be repaired and was informed that the approved repairer is Allied Irish Windscreens.

Have heard enough horror stories about AIW not to want to use them - does anyone know if you have to use your insurer's approved repairer, or can you go to the likes of Autoglass instead?

    Thanks a mill.

Generally the easiest way is to use the approved company. But if you ring the insurance company before you might get authorised to go somewhere else. Don't get anything done without first contacting your insurance company yourself.

Normally if your insurance company has a preferred company it is because that company are offering them a discount on any replacements they are doing. Ring your insurance company or check your policy documents as if you go with another company your insurance may not cover the cost or at best only partially cover the cost of a replacement screen. You need to ring your insurance company for clarification though.
