Lads, I know I'm gonna be shot down. This being the thread that it is. But every thread seems to be an attack on some show. I'm stating the obvious, but if you think stuff is so awful, why do you listen? Are you not wasting countless hours of your life doing something you don't enjoy? Would you not prefer to be with friends or doing some sport etc? I love a lot of radio I hear in the country. I travel a lot, and I hear a lot of different stations. I like to hear how each county does something differently. And a lot of them do it quite well considering the resources they have. All I'm saying is. When you hear something that isn't 'awful' in your opinion, well then maybe give it a shout out.

P.S. Waiting to be attached for my positivity'.

It's the nature of things that the most negative opinion will be the most vocal about it. That's just the way it is, especially on a forum like Boards.

That, and the majority of Irish Radio is ****e. :P

    ^^

This is true. It's easier to hate a thing and express that negativity than the opposite.

Because not everyone has the luxury of a stable, uncapped internet connection. ;)

Seriously, this "Why don't you just listen to something else?" argument is becoming as cliched around here as Atari Jaguar.

Some people don't get a choice in what they listen to (office radio, etc).
Some people listen to shows regularly, enjoy them in general, but get annoyed by specific elements.
Some people may scan through the dial every now and again, happen on something hey don't like, and feel like discussing it.

These are just three of numerous reasons why people complain.

It also needs to be taken into account that people are always going to be more likely to post about something they don't like as opposed to something they do like, that's just the way the world works for better or for worse.

For example, I'm a fan of the Ray Foley Show, there's only so often you can post in that thread saying "Enjoyed the show today. :)", it takes something relatively special to make me feel like posting about it, whereas if I have the misfortune to hear a Ray D'Arcy dating special, I'll more than likely join in in the inevitable bitch-fest that'll be happening on the RDS thread :pac:

Imo the best show on daytime radio is Sean Moncreifs, Ray Darcys is good at the best of times but the sh*t he gets on this forum is rediculous the same with Tubs. All tho in saying that im sick of hearing misery every hour when the news comes on the IMF and Troika are imbedded in my brain. A radio station with no news would be great :)

With RTÉ shows in particular, which is mostly funded out of money we are *obliged* to pay, people who pay it should have a right to complain when they see that value for money isn't achieved - which might the the reason they don't listen to the shows with any regularity due to the god-awfulness or cack-handedness of the presenter.

"Just tune into something else" sounds as lame to me as Mary Harney's "Shop around" comment on health care. If we're paying for it, it should be of merchantable quality!

Chris80, I agree with your comment and am guilty of posting things that irk me about a show rather than raving reviews.
