    Hi Folks,
I'm considering moving to terenure. I want to find out what the morning commute is like from terenure village to the city centre driving down Harold's cross road, clanbrassa st etc. Would be aiming to make it to the city centre for 9, north quays to be exact.
Does anyone do this route? How sticky is traffic? Could you do it in 20/25 mins?
    Thanks in advance

No brainer for cycling, a commute like that.
7km or so, bout 20 mins.

It is certainly either public transport or cycling. Traffic moves very slowly on this route

    49 bus would be fastest.

During the school year its an hours drive, worse if the traffic is really bad. You will literally walk there quicker. Its a nice spot, I wouldn't let the commute put you off, just don't drive.

As said above OP, you'd be better off cycling in if that is an option. Traffic is usually quite horrible if driving in or taking public transport.

Make sure it is on the city side of Terenure. Getting through there at rush hour can take 'forever'.

"Could you do it in 20/25 mins?" - I strongly suspect it would be longer. The bus will take that long and it has bus lanes for most of the distance.

The bus will take about 25 minutes (49 from Terenure Rd North to Lord Edward St, driving will be substantially longer.

when its too wet for cycling - about 20 mins - i use the 49, but you need to check RTPI, as they are less frequent than the sixteens which should be avoided like the plague as they take a long detour down the SCR

I go from around the KCR to town every day and there's no way I'd take the car over the bike unless I absolutely needed the car for something later in the day. When traffics good it takes about 25 minutes. The bike takes around 10-15 minutes depending on how many traffic lights are red. Herself walks it and it takes about 40-45 minutes to grafton street. Don;t use the bus so I don't know about that

On a bad day you will lose the will to live if you are stuck in traffic on the bus or in the car in Terenure. Walk or cycle for the win.

I don't think that if you get on a 49 on Terenure Road North it is anywhere near as bad as the 16 - it has bus lanes the majority of the way into the city.

Any bus route going via Kelly's Corner and George's Street should be avoided when possible - even thirty years ago I was quicker walking from Leonard's Corner into town at any point than getting a bus that way.

    That's why I am recommending the 49.
