Documentation For Masters Application

Was hoping that somebody could help me with this.

Have made an application for a masters in screenwriting and am unsure as to when I need to supply references.

As I am not a previous student of NUIG, references are listed as being requested, but am wondering if this is required within the 5 working days given to supply documentation.

The email for my application states:
Non NUI Galway Applicants: Those who have not studied in NUI Galway previously must provide certified copies of transcripts of examination results, birth certificate, English language proficiency certificate where applicable, and references (please check our supporting documents website for specific details http://www.nuigalway.ie/postgrad/pac_supp_docs.html)

I rang NUIG today and was told that it was not required within the 5 working days, but I didn't state that I was not a previous student.

If anyone could shed any light on this, I would be very grateful.
