Some form of ichneumon wasp I think. I don't know enough to know for sure... but looks like a squished Ophion?

Thanks. No idea if it is it or not but looks like it. In any way strange? Do they sting?

I "think" some species do have a stinger which they use to paralyse whatever it is they are laying their egg in but I have no idea if they use them in defence.
Had a few come to the light in a moth trap last year...and probably asked the same question then (can't remember the answer :o)

Thanks. Found this one in a light inside my house. I could find no reference to it until now.
