    Hi guys,

By best I mean with regards to power, speed, battery life, reliability.
And the display would want to be at least 15" !

    Thanks.

15.6" 2nd gen Core i3 Acer laptop for 359 yoyos at LD. Since it's an ULV processor (max TDP 17W), the battery life should be alright.

Reliability? Seriously? You buy cheap, you'll get cheap!

While i wouldn't disagree with Torqay's statement. I wouldn't regard €350 as "cheap". Also, a laptop looked after, should and will last a decent length of time.
€270 - €350 laptop mightn't be able to play the newest games fluidly or handle the heaviest graphic programs etc.. But it should be more than capable of handling most day to day stuff and a bit more.

Couple of Lenovo also available around that price.

This from Germany has a QWERTZ Keyboard, but wouldn't bother me. €360 Delivered using Parcel Motel

This from Ebuyer is Roughly €355 (14" Screen) Delivered Using Parcel Motel

another on Laptops Direct UK - This is €419 0n LaptopsDirect Ireland and is £249 after cashback here:

Read more about that offer HERE

There really are some good deals out there if you look, and take into account you may be able to get them delivered to Ireland using services like Parcel Motel. As we more often than not get stung.
A lot of UK businesses here either omit their special offer products on their Irish sites, or else they have a massive price difference.
So worth looking up the UK website sometimes.

Anything under 500 yoyos is a budget laptop in my books. Although a lot of money, you wont find high quality material or top graphics in this price segment.

Indeed, a laptop (even with a carbon fibre chassis and Gorilla glass) is a fragile device and its reliability depends first and foremost on how it is being teated.

Not every Lenovo is a Thinkpad T... they do make cheap stuff too, you know. ;)

Ok I've checked out the laptops you've mentioned but I have narrowed down my choice to either
    http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_E1_Windows_8_Core_i3_Laptop_-_Black-Silver_NX.M09EK.001/version.asp
    or
    http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Hewlett_Packard_G6-2204SA_A6-4400M_6GB-750GB_1.0C13_C2B45EA/version.asp

Which of these would you choose or would you choose something else ?

    Thanks !

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

I'd go with the first one, it has a faster CPU

If that's of no concern to you and you prefer the bigger hard disk and the more memory, go for the second one

BTW a memory upgrade on the first one would be cheap and easy DIY job (I don't know that particular model, but it is for most laptops)

Ya your probably right on picking the first one. Id say ill pick that. Wasn't to keen on an acer at first because im not sure about there performance against the likes of lenovo, asus and hp but this model seems to be a good price and good stats.

It seems to be pretty much the same price on both the uk and irish site but i was wondering would it be faster on delivery or cheaper delivery to order from the irish site ?
