Moving ESB Pole

I'm currently landscaping my property and there is a timber electricity pole with a transformer in my front lawn which I want moved.
The pole is shown on the site map to be in my percolation area.
I have written the letter to ESB Networks and enclosed a site / OS map.

Does anyone have experience with this or know how long this takes.

I live near Killarney, Co. Kerry

    Thanks

I don't want to put you off, but I had this on a large project last year and the ESB wanted €19k to move a pole... In the end they settled for €4k and it took around 6 weeks.

I've heard some horror stories but my experience was pretty positive. I bought a site which has a house to the front. I wanted to build at the back of the existing house approx 60m away and this location for the new build brought me closer to a pole that's been on the site for years. The problem was that the pole was approx 25m from the site boundary, not quite in the middle of what would be my new back yard but not far off. I contacted esb networks, they sent someone out to assess and agreed to move it free of charge. The new pole is still on my property but is now much neater the site boundary and not nearly as much in the way as it was. Hopefully u get a positive outcome.

Yes you can get poles moved. Over the years I've had Two poles and a Pylon moved. But it really depends on the individual location and circumstances.
To be fair to the ESB networks they are quite amenable to helping out where possible.
If it's a local or an end of line Pole then usually not much of a problem.
If it's those really Tall Poles then it's very difficult to get them moved as it usually requires the next set of Poles either side which could be up to a quarter of a mile away.
