motor tax on an import

Hi all, thinking of importing from the UK in the next few weeks, just wondering if all 2008 reg cars are assessed on co2 or engine size for motor tax, or is it after a certain month during 2008? Had a quick search earlier but couldnt find an answer!!

After june was co2. Before that was whichever is cheaper

All 2008 imports are on co2; only pre 1 July 2008 initial regs had the lower of co2/capacity option (at second taxing).
