Junction 5 on the M50 northbound to the N2 was where I, and many others, got caught with a speeding fine and 2 points. This was in mid-February. The limit was 80 Kph until it become 120 kph after about a kilometre. Most people gradually build up speed, as I did, but at the midway point a Garda van clocked me doing 93 kph. Mea culpa, have paid up etc.
Imagine my disgust yesterday at seeing a new 100 kph sign a few hundred metres past the 80 kph sign. Ah well... bah humbug!!!

The speed limit applies until the sign so theres no such thing as 'gradual build up' The van does live at Liffey Valley however, city bound at the bus stop. Was there on Monday in the 60 zone. Plenty of people caught.

People just need to slow down in these areas for no other reason than the vans live there. Save the speed for the 100km/h+ sections and make up your time there.

Was the van up on the "garda vehicles only"] hill? It's a favourite spot for the traffic corps.

Sure was. And was there a week or so later too.
