Best search engine for cheap flights?

So far, skyscanner.com is coming up tops for me. It led me to a flight with Ethiad which was almost €800 cheaper than on the Ethiad website.

Looking at the online travel search engine market, there really does seem to be an oligopoly in existence.
Expedia is horribly expensive, and consistently so. Expedia Inc owns so many of the leading online travel companies, including the mighty (and superb) Tripadvisor. It also owns Hotels.com, Hotwire, Venere and many other large companies. So be aware of that if you think you're getting prices from independently-owned companies.
Similarly, Lastminute.com and Travelocity are owned by the same company, Sabre. While Booking.com, Agoda.com, Kayak.com and Priceline.com are owned by the same company, Priceline.com.

Are there any other search engines like Skyscanner, which is Scottish, which are offering genuine competition? What site are you finding the best travel deals on?
