    Hey guys.
I am having some trouble trying to to determine what (if any) kind of grant I could be potentially eligible for in the coming academic year 2013/2014. I am 25 and live independently from my parents, I ceased working in Nov 2012, and am in the process of claiming jobseekers allowance since February of this year. I have applied and have been accepted to a 1 year masters programme in UCD commencing this coming September.

    any help would be great

    thanks

There are two types of grants for a postgrad

    1 a grant 2000 towards fees
2 a grant of upto €6,270 towards fees

To be eligible for the 1st one - your means (2012 income) has to be less than 30555

To be eligible for the 2nd one - your means (2012 income) has to be less than 22,022 and you have to be receiving a social welfare payment

    More information here

There are lots of variables that may affect your grant -

    * if you are not working since 2012 you could potentially claim a change in circumstances in your income
    * if you have only graduated from an undergrad course recently (within the last 3 years) - you might not be considered as independent

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
