Anybody got any record of how much value is added to cars that are over 30 yo ? We can buy W124's for peanuts, but W123's are €3k up ?
As I said before, you could tax a W124 2.0 or even 2.8 for 4 or 5 years on and off before you'd be near the price asked for some W123's

because W123s are far more scarce that W124s, and therefore far more sought after. everywhere you look someone is selling a 124 so they dont make big money. supply and demand at work.

I think the Irish also have a particular aversion to paying tax - they'll pay a bigger premium than is justified for that warm feeling of beating the system. Price aside, I think the 124 is worth the extra tax - I find it a far nicer car.

Houses , cars , food - the Irish always seem to think paying more = better

Maybe there's a bit of a Scot in me but I always love buying as cheap as possible and 'adding value' , NEVER paid full whack for ANYTHING - always looking for 'the best price' ! :):)
