Laptop only works without battery

So is the battery messed up or the laptop? Works fine on mains, if the battery is put in the laptop wont go on.

Might be static build up. Take the battery and mains out, hold power button for 30 seconds then place the battery back in. If its still not working, battery will need to be replaced.
