    Hi,
I have a water well that I got tested for bacteria recently.
Its result had traces of Coliform and a PH of around 5.8.
Will shock sterilisation of the well get rid of the coliform ??
Has anyone had any issues like this in the past
    thanks

Most Wells will have some level of Coliform in them as we're surrounded by Farming in this Country. What's important is the level of Coliform. Shocking the Well if it's a new Well will help but the problem will most likely return.
The only sure way of curing Coliform is to install a Sterilizer light. There not to cheap and you have to replace the Bulb every year. The low PH might be a bigger problem as it means your Water is Acidic. This acidic Water will attack your Copper pipes and Cylinder over time and you will get leaks. Depending on how aggressive it is you could get leaks in a matter of a couple of years.
You can also get a ph corrector to take care of this problem. Your best option is to take your Water report and talk to some of the leading Filter Companies to achieve an all round solution.
