    Hi,

Just looking for opinions if this would work!

Going to a wedding soon. Have a good dark navy suit and thinking of matching it with:

    - white shirt
    - tan/brown shoes
    - burgundy/maroon tie
    - burgundy/maroon braces

Would that work together do ye think? Also if it makes any difference, I have sallow skin and dark hair. Cheers for any feedback!

Edit - also have a nice light sky blue shirt. could that work either?

I'd stick to the white shirt to be honest, might be a bit much in a different colour with the braces too- I think braces look sharper with a crisp white shirt anyway.

    Cheers for the replies!

Just saw a pair of burgundy braces when I was in town at the weekend and thought they might go well with it, just needed some convincing that overall they'd go together!

Think white shirt > blue shirt alright. Can't really go wrong with a white shirt I suppose.

Yep sounds nice, with the white shirt though.

Navy suit might be dodgy with brown shoes. Would black be more suitable?

Overall the combo sounds good but I am not a fan of braces tbh.
Wearing a belt that matches your shoes looks better imo.

    Definitely not tan shoes.

Brown shoes are okay with a navy suit but black shoes are a bit more formal so it depends on the occasion really.

Braces colour shouldn't make a difference as they won't be seen. Unless you're walking around with your jacket off which I personally disagree with but seems to be the way a lot of weddings are.

One thing though, are they those clip on braces or are they proper ones which hook onto buttons sewn onto the inside of the waistband?

I think braces which clip onto your belt loops look really tacky (even more so if you wear a belt as well!) and if you are doing this it's even more reason *not* to take your jacket off.

Black could possibly be better but my black shoes are a bit tattered and I've spent enough on accomodation & flights for this wedding already in last few weeks so can't really afford another €100 or so on a decent pair of black shoes.

Yeah, I have a nice belt to match the shoes anyway so option B is just replacing the braces with the belt.

Suppose the shoes are more brown than tan. Haven't bought the braces yet but I think they are the ones with the clips but I definitely wouldn't be wearing braces and the belt!

Also, the wedding is in Spain and the weather will prob be in mid 20's so I can imagine the jacket will be off a lot of the time.

Shoes could work I guess, hard to tell without seeing exact shades of shoe/trouser combo. A burgundy pair would be great if you have them.

Honestly, I'd be far more inclined to go with a regular belt than braces.

I've no idea how conservative Spanish weddings are(or aren't) but some people would view the showing of braces as distasteful. Also, I think it just looks worse asthetically if jackets will be removed at all than a shirt and belt.

Have you worn them before and are comfortable in them? If not, it's another reason to use a belt instead, you don't want to be uncomfortable in 20+ degree heat all day with the skin around the braces becoming irritated from sweat and adjusting them.

I only thought of that this morning - braces could be quit uncomfortable/sweat inducing in the heat!

Maybe, the belt would save a lot of headaches leading up to it.

For reference, the colour of shoes and suit wouldn't be too far off this (it's not pin stripe though) -
