This was given to me years ago by my grandfather. He passed away soon after so i didnt get much info on it. He said it was used in a war but that could be just 'talk'. Does anyone know anything about it? There is some type of stamp on it. Heres pics.
    Thanks for looking.

The 'E' looks a bit modern, could be a film prop, ornament or something intended for a re-enactor?
Also looks like modern screw heads stuck into it?

Hi, yes there 'philips' head screw. They look old but probably are meant too. Ah well. Still would like to find out the stamp. Does it ring any bells?

Also the lion's head seems a separate bit from the axe head. Looks like its a metal casting and put on afterwards.
I'd imagine someone attempted to make it an 'Elizabethan' (Liz the 1st that is) era halberd with the mark.

No, just checked, the lions head is of the same part or one piece.

Casting of the lion mask looks a bit recent.

Would agree about the composed construction, the stamp is very crisp and phillips screws prominent from the 1950's I think ?

Its very cool ! but not as old as it purports
