Read during the week that someone who is a member the crew has been given a contract for 2 more seasons and a movie, which will probably be Roberts Rebellion. Could be all rubbish.

A movie of Robert's Rebellion would be cool if they made it soon enough. The dilemma would be could they use the same cast for it... Could Mark Addy and Sean Bean really play characters 15 years younger than their roles in the 1st season? Especially since Robert is meant to be a lean, mean fighting machine during the Rebellion

Considering Robert is meant to be an absolute beast when he was younger there's no way Addy could play him in a film of the rebellion. I'd say Bean is too old too really.

Would love to see a film of this, seeing Robert fight Rhaegar at the trident and Eddard & Arthur Dayne at the Tower of Joy would be seriously epic.

Might be a bit on the short side (nothing a few generous camera angles can't fix :P), but Tom Hardy could be a great young robert Barratheon.

Not a bad call but never seen him play anything with levity, tends to always play the brooding type and a young Robert should live up to his fore-bears nickname (Dunk and Egg Spoiler)
    "The Laughing Storm"
    imo.

Rhaegar would be an interesting one to try and cast. Though by the time the series gets that far, Maisie Williams might actually be old enough to play Lyanna which I'd relish, she's been the most faithful to her character from the books and Arya's been my favourite since I first read GOT.

    heh heh.

Robert's Rebellion casting done in 2 minutes:

    Aerys Targaryen: Bill Nighy
    Rhaegar Tarygaryen: Tom Hiddleston
    Robert Baratheon: Colin O'Donoghue
    Rickard Stark: Eddie Izzard
    Brandon Stark: Aidan Turner
    Eddard Stark: Domhnall Gleeson
Lyanna Stark: Andrea Riseborough or Claire Foy or Felicity Jones
    Jaime Lannister: Alex Pettyfer
    Cersei Lannister: Imogen Poots
    Jon Arryn: David Thewlis
Catelyn Tully: eh, so someone with red hair... Karen Gillan

    Have fun googling :P

Bill Nighy is THE definitive Targaryen. Blonde, superior, slightly off kilter......

Funny you say Hiddleston for Rhaegar because I was thinking more Chris Hemsworth.

There's always a buzz around Katie McGrath to play Lyanna in any prequel.

Whoever plays Robert has to be big, just having his colouring and a bit of lean muscle doesn't cut it; the actor has to be a tank. The guy was well over six feet tall. If anyone noticed the size of the Hound in comparison to the members of the Brotherhood last week..about that size. You see a lot of names of dark haired actors being floated but they're built like a whippet..you have to consider that the guy was swinging a hammer at the Trident that Ned couldn't even lift.

Chris Hemsworth definitely works for Rhaegar

Far too over muscled and farm healthy looking - for Rheagar anyway. He just doesn't look well bred enough to be of royal blood.

    Alexander Skarsgard?

He's about 6ft7. No good to have him towering over Robert.

On the other hand, he could possibly play Robert if they could pass off dying his hair black.

They could oldify him and have him play the White Bull.

Fair point, Hiddleston does have that kind of look about him that the guy who play Viserys in season 1 had. I always imagined Rhaegar to be a bit less weedy than that though. He was one of the best fighters in Westeros in his day but he would have been smaller than Robert I would have thought.

If he was mostly wearing armour, who'd know any better?

For example, Loras doesn't look that ridiculous when he's jousting but looks like a delicate little flower out of his armour.

Maybe someone like Todd Lasance for Rhaegar?

Only an inch shorter than Mark Addy.

Don't believe this, but it's fun to speculate. For me, appearance comes a very distant second when it comes to casting these characters.

It would suck to have anyone else play Ned other than Bean, he's so perfect, but he would be too old. Joel Edgerton would do well in that role, plays the sympathetic sombre type very well.

Can't remember how he was supposed to have looked but maybe Gabriel byrne for Jon Arryn. Think he'd play the character well

yes that's rhaegar, give him longer hair and purple eyes, slap a suit of armour on him and roll cameras
