You pay for it in the price of hosting.

Wupav Hosting is €20 a year for hosting and €6.99 for a .com and they have 25% off hosting at the moment. Can't remember the code though. Code is newhome.

Avoid Register365 as much as you possibly can.

Their support is dreadful, and their domain registration practises are borderline dodgy. A quick Google search will prove. I can say that I have had first-hand experience will them, and these practises are completely unacceptable.

Although I am a Blacknight customer, I cannot recommend them enough. They do work out at 25c more for the year, but the support is very good, they offer live support chat (you're connected within seconds), are active on social media, and are quite reliable. Yes, they are not as cheap as other international hosts, but they are very good.

Even if you are looking elsewhere, consider Krystal (UK), Host Ireland (very pricey), or anyone else. They will give you far more bang for your buck. Also, they are far more professional and caring to their customers.

    HTH.

PS. If you are going Blacknight, they have a 20% off voucher on their discount website, http://domainoffers.me/. They also have some free domains and services when using promotional codes. It is worth a look.

I must add that reg365 has gone way downhill since names took them over. Billing is gone strange, i got cut off even though bill paid, they hadn't connected the payment, was down for 5 hours. Some outages. Only issue is moving is a pain because of all files on server space...

Hosting365 did have a major foothold and reputation in the Irish hosting game, but when the bosses sold off the cheaper, shared hosting accounts to Dada (UK), they divided the company.

Customers were (and some still are) confused by the split, as the branding got in the way. Hosting365, which is still in existence, and based in Ireland, still has calls from shared accounts who are making the mistake. Essentially, Hosting365 are for pricier, expensive clients. Register365 are for the cheaper clients, and the two companies are no longer related.

As the previous poster said, Register365 have been having problems, many of which since the split.

The Driver, on a side note, why not move to a new host and FXP the files? This is basically when you FTP from server to server, without making a copy on your laptops. The only limit is your hosts' speeds.

Never realised about the Hosting365 v Register365 situation. Always presumed Register365 was for domains registration and hosting365 for hosting. No idea why I thought that but I can see why it would be so confusing.

TheDriver, a lot of hosting companies will move your files for a small charge or even free.

    Hosting365.ie redirects to register 365

It no longer exists this more expensive hosting as you call it was sold to Sunguard as. They are for dedicated servers and other services.

It's really easy. Sign up to new provider, transfer files and databases, create email address on new server, update the dns to point to new servers and its done.

Thanks for clarifying that. It is good to see that they got their branding in order.

99% sure these guys are just a reseller onto of digiweb.

There is a lot to be said to have your hosting with a company who can actually access their own servers directly, especially if and when things go wrong. But remember you get what you pay for with every company.

They're definitely not resellers for digiweb anyway as they use cPanel. I've been with them for a while and can't complain. Moved to them from blacknight and anytime I've had an issue they are quick to reply. Had some downtime recently but they sent a very honest explanation email which is why I stayed.

Completely off topic but just went on to digiweb to see if they do reseller hosting. Their new site is shocking, slow loading, way too much animation and loads of mistakes. Only €29.95 a month, thats less then €1 a month..

If their own website is like that, imagine the hosting. That said, Boards are hosting them, aren't they? They'd have their own servers and the like, I'd say.

Vuxuggu, would you recommend them over Blacknight?

I know, I used to have Digiweb hosting and it was OK. Site seems to be faster this morning. Boards have their own setup in the datacentre. There are photos of it floating around on boards.

I would yes, I haven't noticed any real difference in quality of hosting apart from price and far better control panel. Not a fan of blacknights one.

I'm really surprised this thread is not banned/closed yet. I thought hosting discussions are banned on boards.ie?

I know that it is against the rules, technically, but this forum doesn't really attract hosting companies. Also, if people are being honest and transparent, I don't really see the problem.
