Applying for jobs via Jobs.ie - Warning

I sent off a cv for a job via jobs.ie last week and I was not expecting to hear back for a few days from the company.

I sent a link about a job via jobs.ie to a friend of mine who is looking for work.
After this I sent them an email and mentioned that I had sent this link via jobs.ie.
I got an email this morning from my friend to tell me they had not got the job spec as yet.

Because of this I decided to ring the company I sent my cv to via jobs.ie to hear they never got my cv. I was able to send an emailed cv directly to the company.
I am not registered with jobs.ie but I wanted to let other people know this and to advise them to contact the company directly to ensure that they have got your cv.

I thought you had to be a member in order to apply via the site?

I think Jobs.ie strip out CV's they deem unsuitable to the client. Probably why you never got a call back...

I'm still registered with them, but as far as possible, I apply direct.

AFAIK, you don't have to be registered. You can apply as a guest.

Isn't the point of recruitment companies to pick the best C.Vs and send these to the companys

jobs.ie isn't a recruitment agency, it's a website that recruiters and companies post jobs on

Jobs.ie is a website. NOT a recruitment company.

A recruitment company will do a paper sift of CV's. A website will simply give the information, and the applicant applies via the website. The end client will do the paper sift from there. Jobs.ie will do a paper sift as a 'value-add' to their clients, then pass on suitable CV's.

so they would go through individual CV's? I'm really surprised I must admit

    Someone on Boards posted that.

I don't think so, unless it's recent. I was on the receiving end of Jobs.ie applications and we were getting absolutely everything, including CVs in Turkish or nearly blank apart from the applicant's name. The numbers are huge though, up to hundreds applies a day per job, and 90% are not relevant to the job so it's easy to get lost among the deluge.

No, I don't think so. Another poster either knows people who work there or worked there himself, I can't remember which posted so. I think it's Mr Loverman, but could be wrong....

I can confirm Jobs.ie screen applications as a value added service to the employer. They have been doing this for many years (since their beginning?)

They only reject obviously unsuitable applicants, unless the employer tells them to be more strict.

Employers can see the rejected CVs when they log into their account. But they don't receive them by e-mail, so they have to choose to look at the rejected CVs.
