I have never bought from ebay but am tempted by a price on someting i want. Is ebay generally safe, can you pay with 02 credit card? Where do the ebayers get the stuff they sell

Shipping from china I would be obliged to pay customs or what ever it is called?

Yes ebay is safe, apart from a few obvious scammers. You have Paypal proection if you pay through paypal and its the safest easiest way to pay. If you look at the seller they have a feedback score of 99.9% from 23,719 reviews. As far a customs goes I think as long as its over €22 you may have to pay custom's charges on it if you buy from outside the EU.

You should be able to use the 02 card on paypal and then use paypal to pay for the item.
If you look at seller information on the right of the page you can see what past buyers have said, positive or negative.

I have a paypal account and always used that, paypal will refund you if lost damaged etc..and you are having trouble with the seller, would recommend you open account when using Ebay.
i have brought loads of things of Ebay from everywere, found dealing with Sellers from china very good, will do anything to keep you happy rather then get negative feedback.

Name, address, phone and maybe some security things but it's nothing over the top. Paypal will transfer the money so the seller will not have your payment credit card details, they can also help in situations where payment was made but goods not received.

Along time go i done my account, but i remember clicking pay by paypal to see what it is ,then saids "do you have account click, no, then follow next steps to open a account, you can use paypal to pay for anything ,not just Ebay, adverts .ie i use with paypal, so much quicker then sending a cheque, seller gets paid straight away ,you get your goods quicker.

ebay is one of the safest places to shop online.
If the seller has sold many items and have good feedback you're pretty much certain to not get scammed.

A tip is to click on his feedback and filter it so you only are looking at negative feedback. Now you can see typical issues with the seller, also in your browser you can search for specific things like "camera".

2 lad say the camera is poor quality, another says it doesn't work on vista.

www.toolhaus.org can search neg feedback well.

if one was providing a service or even selling something could one get paid through paypal without having a site. Could one advertise say in a paper and say payment was through paypal

Yes lots do it on the likes of adverts.ie.

Another way is to transfer money between banks, this is usually free if within ireland.

Another weird way I thought of was to put money on somebodys ready-to-go phone account, would probably have to be mulitples of €5

i don't think you can transfer money from 02 card to paypal. from bank to paypal yes

You don't transfer money from the card, you add the card to the site and it will charge the card. You will need to add it like you would add a Visa card.

Edit: Keep in mind the first time you add a card you will be charged around €1 to validate the card, the charge will be refunded.

NO other charges - PayPal is simplicity itself - even an old fart like me can use it. :D

ebay is very safe in conjunction with utilising some common sense when purchasing from sellers. Don't pay for anything if a seller offers it to you cheaper outside of ebay as you won't be covered. It's a fairly common scam. Always check a sellers rating and view their feedback section to see what others have said about doing business with them. Once you're set up to use PayPal you'll be protected if anything happens like an item is undelivered for example, then you'll be able to open up a dispute and get a refund. :)
