Just working on a feed budget for next winter.... trying to decide how much ground to cut, with the assumption of a 11ton/acre yield

I had been using 0.9ton/mth for weanling as per Justins extras in 2008 but I see today in the IFJ they have 0.5ton/mth for stores which is a big difference. These would be Jan-Mar born dairy stock.

We'll have 150 hiefers dairy replacement calves to over winter so the calculation goes as follows.
    150hd x 0.5ton/mth x 5mth = 375tons required

If I can free up silage ground for grazing I can take more stock in sooner which means more income!

    a. Lactating suckler cow = 1.5 tonnes/month
    b. Dry suckler cow = 1.0 tonnes/month
    c. 200-350kg store = 0.5 tonnes/month
    d. 350+ kg store = 0.7 tonnes/month
