Great Limerick Run - Full Marathon

    Hi All,

I am running the full Great Limerick Run marathon for the first time this year and wanted to start a thread to talk to others getting set for this race. I have run the Dublin marathon twice previously and want to try to figure out how the two marathons compare.

I had a few questions and hope people can answer:

    - How many people are signed up for the full marathon in Limerick?
    - Based on the last two years, how well organized is the marathon? I had heard that there were issues with people going the wrong way in previous years?
    - How do they stagger the different races i.e. 10k, half, full. Will the full marathon finishers be running with the 10k runners?
    - The course seems to be pretty flat from my viewing of it, the worst hills look to be the flyover at the Crescent shopping centre and the long drag up by the Gaelic grounds around mile 22. Any others I missed?
    - Is the section through UL marked out well as it doesn't look to be going along any main roads?
    - What type of gels do they give you at the gel stations?

Hopefully people can use this thread over the coming weeks as final preparations are being completed. I did my 20 miles run on Sunday this week so feel I should be ready for the big day.

    Brian
