Perhaps an a/c graveyard in the desert, that would be cool alright.

The California Science Ctr is NE of LAX by about 5- 6 miles in Exposition park and has the Shuttle Endeavour on display. LA has tons of Aircraft museums. The Reagan Library in Simi Vallley even has an Air Force One - the B707 used in the 70's and 80's on display. If you are around LAX why not sit back in the sun on Dockweiler State Beach at the end of the runways in LAX and watch aircraft take off every minute out over the ocean. There are lots of places to hang out and watch if around LAX such as the Encounters Restaurant Bar & Restaurant in the Theme Building and the Proud Bird restaurant.

Fly over either the Grand Canyon or Vegas strip by helicopter.

Nevada National Security Site formerly known as the Nevada Test Site.

I toured it pre-9/11 and it was a cracking day out with tons of free ice cream.
To learn all about instant sunshine, the new National Atomic Testing Museum is the place to go http://www.nationalatomictestingmuseum.org/.
