Cory Monteith has entered rehab for substance addiction.
A spokesperson for the actor announced on Easter Sunday (March 31) that Monteith has chosen to seek professional treatment in order to get his life back on track."[Cory] has voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction," his representative told People. "He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery."
Monteith's announcement was followed shortly by a message of support from his Glee co-star and girlfriend Lea Michele, who told the publication that she is "proud" he has taken a positive step.
Michele said: "I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision."
Glee creator Ryan Murphy also reacted to Monteith's announcement by writing: "I am so proud of Cory Monteith and love and support him 100%."
The actor previously admitted in 2011 to having spent time in rehab at age 19 for addiction issues.
