Myself and three friends were thinking of going on a golf trip to Morocco in the late autumn,(5 - 8 days). None of us have been there before. We don't want to spend a fortune but we would like to select our own golf courses and accommodation and also hire a car. Has anyone any advice on the the most economical way to go about organising this?

I have never heard of anyone playing golf in Morocco. Do they have a set of decent courses?

Certainly didn't seem like a typical golf destination when I went there.

I was there about 7 years ago on a package holiday for a week with my wife and brought the clubs. We stayed in Agadir which is the main holiday resort.

At the time there was a 27 hole complex (sunset beach, i think),very close to the royal club where the Moroccan open is being played. (Didn't play as it was a lot more expensive).

We played different combos of the nines 3/4 times.

It was grand for a bit of golf while you were on a package holiday but I wouldn't think there is enough there to warrant a lads trip.

Options for going for pints after the golf might also be limited.

There is only one answer to this question. Why Morocco? Were you throwing darts at a map of the world, and missed Costa Del Dol by an inch?

We have been to the Costas and to the Algarve and I suppose we were looking for something different with a bit of sunshine and warmth. We have run into some very bad weather in both Spain and Portugal over the last 3 or 4 years and we are getting pissed off from being pissed on.

Morocco is only a well struck 3 iron from Marbella - so your weather might not be that different.

That's some run of bad luck with Spain and Portugal by the way.

And there was me thinking it only rained like that in the west of Ireland...

If you did manage to find a few decent courses I'd say it would not be a bad spot to go as its dirt cheap out there. Im sure on the shoulders of the season some proper golf tour operator can get you some good deals.

Would not like to play in months June/July/August due to the intense heat.

    ALOHA

Here's a link to golf courses in Morocco. Who would have thought.

    http://www.worldgolf.com/courses/morocco

Now you jsut have to figure where most of the courses are and pick a hotel nearby so you can go out every day,

Hope it's warm in Morocco like it is here in Hawaii.
