I'm doing the cycleforsuicide charity cycle at the end of this month & I have been looking all week for a good bike jacket & can't seem to decide on one, budget circa €80-€130 . Is Altura a good make? Anyone even selling a 2nd hand one? Any handy websites? Thanks

Altura is indeed a good brand, generally known for being hard wearing and weatherproof. Very popular with commuters.

DHB is also known for good value, check them out on Wiggle.co.uk

Do you think you will want something rain-proof or something soft-shell?

Thanks- I'll check those up now, i would like something to be soft-shell. I was looking at these jackets earlier, seem to be very good but a bit pricey.

Maybe this might be more sensible

I picked up one of these a few weeks back at short notice (somehow I had gone several years without investing in a proper jacket) when I was due to do a cycle from Maynooth to Galway with a bad forecast (Friday the 22nd of March, if you remember the weather then?), and I have to say my top half was both dry, and reasonably warm, which was all I could really ask of the jacket with a few of the downpours we had.
