What kind of banjo are you looking at playing?

    Tenor, 5 string?

5 String but I'm completely new to the game so would be open to learning Tenor first, if it's necessary! :)

Both different styles, no advantage to one over the other. It's all down to what you want to play really. I'm more of a guitarist with a banjo (tenor) rather than a real banjo player to be honest with you.

Yeah. I would be leaning towards a 5 string now if the choice is based solely on styles.
