This might be a silly question but why are there no late night buses to some of the towns on the outskirts of Galway? Places like Barna & Claregalway for example. I know that Athenry & Oranmore are the only two places that do.

Surely there must be a demand for such a service!

I'd give my right eye for such a service to Headford, even if it was only available every second weekend!!

The buses aren't even able to serve destinations in the city during the daytime properly, what do you expect?

Probably because someone in Bus Éireann has a brother with shares in a taxi company.

Is there even a demand for it?

Well there must be a demand from people in Athenry and Oranmore, or else Farrells /BusLink wouldn't bother.

I can't see that Barna and Claregalway would be any different.

The West service would really need to go as far as Spiddle and maybe back by Moycullen. Otherwise it would be almost as cheap for a group to share a taxi to Barna. The Oranmore service could come back in by Claregalway without putting itself out too much. Presume the routes need to be licensed.

Ya whats stopping it coming out the n17 dropping off at claregalway and heading across to oran from there or oran-claregalway and back in the n17 to town. As you said probably routes need to be licensed

Yes, routes do need to be licensed. It wouldn't surprise me if BusLink extends the service over the next few years, it's all about sustainable business growth.
