Well we are all aware of last weeks revelations of top stars pay,now read this.

Despite an expected 50 million debt for 2102 this is simply bonkers.

For the first time, RTE has disclosed the salary scales for dozens of jobs at the station, from newsreaders to camera men, from make-up artists to orchestra musicians.

    The figures reveal:

    • Some 83 staff members on pay of more than €100,000.

    • Eighteen were paid over €150,000.

    • Three had basic salaries of more than €200,000.

    • One worker described as "part-time/casual" was paid between €100,000 and €150,000.

    • Average pay at the station stood at €60,300, almost twice the average industrial wage.

€60K seems reasonable enough. There should be nothing average (average industrial wage) about working for the National Broadcaster. A serious skillset is required for most of the positions in there.

So if you're a caretaker you should be paid twice the average because it's in RTE?

Haha! God help you! I doubt the caretaker is on twice the average industrial wage. If s/he is, I'll be submitting a CV! I'm talking about the technical staff (as that's where my expertise lies).

Fairplay to the caretaker if he is. a thread like this is not gonna make any difference. although its good to know but other then that it serves no real purpose:D

You should learn how averages work before spouting rubbish like this. Some people earn over the average and some people earn less than the average.

In a former company the average pay was once reported to be 60K however 1/3 of the work force got paid less than the average industrial wage, the cleaners/caretakers would have would have fallen into that bracket.
