Looks good, installing now. Looking forward to the multiplayer aspects.

Played a couple of hours last night. Definite improvement on the original, more flexible and versatile. Map editor is pretty thorough too. Haven't touched the ferries and I may have found a glitch with the metros, but other than that it's absorbing and addictive. Will be trying multiplayer during the week.

    worth the 20 euro then?

If you're a megalomaniac with OCD then yes, this is the perfect medication. Yeah, it's worth 20 euro. It's well thought out and some of the UI is as slick as Sim City :P

Here's an impressions video for those undecided:

Aye I've played more last night. I think its a great game. Soundtrack and sounds are quite poor though. I love the timetables in this.

Being a noob at this kind of game I had to go through all my bus routes and filter out the quiet routes. I set up urban commute first, then suburban routes, which was my downfall. I had too many buses running at rush hour on suburban routes. Who in the hell wants to go from suburb to suburb at rush hours anyway!? It was also increasing traffic on main routes that the urban commute buses were on too. So I had to let a few buses go, cancelled the night time buses and reduced the bus frequency from 30 mins to 45 mins and presto, within a day the route was starting to turn in a profit again.

Of course I got carried away with the buses and routes that I literally left myself with nothing when I went to build a tram. Got it up and running anyway, 5 trams going back and forth across a river. Demand was REALLY high as the trams were going from high rise apartments to office and industry areas in the city, so I took out a loan to increase tram capacity on the line.

My only issues with the game is the poor tutorial. It took me some time to figure out how to raise or lower metro tracks and roads etc. Another thing would be that when you build out roads the city expands instantly (obviously not when you build a road in the middle of nowhere) if the transportation services are satisfactory. Would be nice if it was delayed or something like that.

I like the timetabling system but not the game time:real time ratio. Buses that take a couple of hours to do their route make the rush hour timetables fairly redundant.

its 3 seconds for every minute

Looks very interesting,so Is it basically building a transport system?managing it?making sure it makes a profit? no city building as such?except for roads.

Yep, pretty much. It's quite addictive.

How the hell do you build a metro line?

Really impressed with the game so far (about 8 hours in) A fair few bugs including the game freezing every few seconds or so (seems to be a common enough issue as a fair few people on the game forums are having it) The game has a really steep learning curve with the tutorial not really covering enough. I'm only after playing about 5 hours of it really getting the jist of the game tbh.

Its impressive to consider how good the game is considering it was only made by 9 people (sans the publishing team)

After realising that, I'm left with another problem in that I really have no idea how to lay down the track. Does the track have to loop, or is there a way to just stop? The only way I can seem to be able to to is lay track or cancel the whole track including the route I've already plotted out.

Edit: Nevermind, figured it out. Why they thought this section didn't need a tutorial is beyond me.

Aye I agree, I was really lost. Had to download the manual from their official forum to figure things out.

Now I'm thinking that it's just my fault, because I never even thought about trying to get a manual. I think I'm being spoiled with easy tutorials.

Jesus the metro is such a huge money spinner when it's done right!

The more I play this, the more I really like it. The time ratio is less of an issue once you get used to it.

Check out cimexchange.com, some great maps already there, as well as a more fleshed out tutorial

I've found the tram to be more profitable for some reason (on roughly the same route paths) although they do have the problem of massive overcrowding. How much profit does your metro line generate?

Starting out a simple 2 way line for white collar and tourists mainly was about 1000 a day, after my reputation surpassed 60% I was hitting 8000 a day but I was starting to get overcrowding issues, and I couldn't get more metros on the line either. I ended up starting a second metro line that took in students and more white collar, and started sharing the common stations to alleviate the issue.

I dunno... the tram's reliability is something terrible. They normally break down after a week for me. Is that normal at all?

Each tram has a certain time per day in needs to spend in the depot getting maintenance done. If it's constantly on the road then its condition will decrease and eventually break down.

When you say you set up two way lines, what way are you doing that? A depot at each end or a loop that goes down the same road?

Is the game a finished product now or is it buggy?

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 17,142 Mod ✭✭✭✭cherryghost

Still a bit buggy. Some of the custom maps are great though. Someone made North Wicklow and it's accurate to the inch!
