VRT address issue

I have my VRT booked for next week.
At the time of booking I provided my address in Mayo, but unfortunately I'm not living at this address anymore.

Now - I have temporary address which might become my permanent address in some time, but that's nothing certain. Also I don't have any written proof of this address.

NCT website claims that one of the requirements for VRT is providing a proof of address (f.e. utility bill). I can't provide my old one, as I won't be even able to receive mail on this address anymore.

So now I can see 2 options.

    1. I can try very hard and try to get some proof of my current address which is temporary. This is address in Mayo.

    2. I can ask my employer, which provides accommodation for some of it's staff, that I could pay for this accommodation f.e. for a week, and get proof of address from them. This would be in Galway.

    The questions are.

    1. Will I be better to registering my car with G reg in oppose to MO reg in relation to resale value in few years?

    2. Assuming I've provided my old address when booking VRT already, is it OK to bring a proof of different address? Or do I need to amend that booking somehow?

I'd thought they went with the address that is associated with your PPSN? This is so that Revenue can track people who are importing X number of cars each year who are not registered as traders.

I'd imagine a G reg would be worth slightly more than a MO reg come resale time.

What do you mean "address associated with PPS number"?
AFAIK there isn't any central address register kept by revenue.
Surely I have my address declared with revenue, but I think this can be changed even online.

Oh surely you need to provide PPS for VRTing the car, for the purpose you mentioned, but I can't see any relevance with address here.

That's what I was thinking. Seems completely mad to me, but if that's the reality, maybe I should avail of it, assuming I have a chance.

When you register for income tax purposes you are issued a PPS number which will have your address. Either you supply it or your employer will give it to them afaik. This how Revenue know where to send your P60 or income tax credits to every year. Yes you can change it online on the Revenue website or ring them and change it once you verify who you are.

VRTing a car while operated by the NCTS is part of the Revenue Depoartment so they will require your PPS number so they can track unregistered dealers frequently importing cars for the purpose of selling them on at a profit.

Yep, that's reg plate snobbery for you.

    A little bump.
Maybe some people could post their opinions on this, as I posted it over Easter when forum was very quite.

I'm especially interested in 2nd question - if I'm ok to bring proof of different address when VRTing my car (different to the one I provided during booking)?
And what if this address is in different county?

Have you rang and asked the NCTS?
Might be easier than people guessing in this forum.
