2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming (Rome total war 2 will be my bench mark)

The script isn't working so I couldn't give you a nice table and links but this is a good build for less than €1200 leaving you with enough to get a keyboard on amazon since the german layout is different. Site

Change the case to this version. It has the toolless drive bays.

Is there any particular reason as to why RAM has gone upoin rice in the past month or so? Around Jan/Feb, 8GB of 1600mhz RAM was about 38/39 euro, now it's just over 50 (with 1333mhz RAM being found around the above price, ~46 euro).

Supply and demand I guess. Who knows. At least it's not as bad as the hard drive price explosion a couple of years back. I was about to pull the trigger on buying a 2tb drive and they trebled in price in 2 weeks.

You can, but you should try and build it yourself. You'll know a lot more about your hardware and you'll also be able to tell all your mates that you built your own gaming computer

If you really don't want to do it though, they offer a building service for €20; just search "recher - zusammenbau" or something along those lines.

I plan to buy it just before the leaving and have it arrive during it so I love to get it pre built:D the site is great for"studying" though as I am taking german:P Cant wait to get this computer and just game for the summer!

Prices had gone ridiculously low. I think the maker have cut back on production slightly to counteract this. It's still cheap imo.
The HDD thing was different where lots of stock was destroyed due to a natural disaster.

HDD prices are almost back to their pre-Thai-flood levels. I saw a 3TB drive on Amazon for 90 something pounds (which was beaten by Flubit for 82 pounds delivered! - great site btw).

I distinctly remember there bring terabyte drives for under 45 euro in that time.

As a side note, I'm seriously considering getting a http://www.hardwareversand.de/58+cm+%2823%29+/53650/Dell+UltraSharp+U2312HM.article through Flubit for 170 pounds delivered, but I'm not sure it's justified over my current syncmaster p2250 (21.5 inch 1080p). Would the quality be much better?

The 2tb drives were around €70 and went up to nearly €200. Yeah I know it was because of the flooding. Everyone except Samsung make their drives in thailand and their factory's and equipment were pretty much destroyed.

Changed it up a fair bit. A better graphics card, case and cpu. That Xeon cpu is an ivy bridge quad core with hyper threading. It's pretty much the same chip as the i7 3770, which costs €267, clocked 100mhz lower and without an igp. A few other changes to the build as well.

Case is available in black + silver or plain black as well.
