    Hi,

Myself and a mate want to fly into Bali and travel up to Jakarta, either by ourselves or through a tour. But all the tours we've found online seem to start in Jakarta and finish in Bali, which is the reverse of what we want to do!

Anyone know how difficult it would be to do by ourselves, or have any suggestions? Thanks!

We did Bali to Jakarta a few years ago by ourselfs, plenty of buses and ferris you won't be stuck, so plan an itinerary and just go... Stayed in some villages and towns along the way and it was an experience one we won't forget!!

Yeah you can do it by yourself. Here's what I did:

    - I stayed at Bromo (that's a volcano, there's a village beside it whichy I can't remember the name of). It was at least 10 hours on a bus (and ferry) from Denspasar. You get off at a town called Probalingo, and there's a bus from there up to the village beside the volcano.

    - After that stayed in Yogyacarta - another long bus from Bromo. It's a big city, but worth going to for Borobodur (and some other temples) alone.

    - Then another long bus to Pangandaran. Small quiet seaside town. I did a trip to the Green Canyon, which was pretty cool.

    - Yet another long bus to Jakarta. I didn't stay in Jakarta, just got a bus straight to the airport from Pangandaran.

It's obviously not as easy as doing a tour - you have to organise buses, negotiate prices, find accomodation etc. But it's a great experience, you are free to do what ever you want, and it will probably work out cheaper.

    +1

Trains run to Jakarta from here > 8 hours.
