Fairly fast walk, 70mins would be average for a half, running. Try get a bit more training in.

Maybe you'd feel a bit worse after a fast one.

I think you find thats not true. Just look at previous half results and not many hit 70 mins

    Runners aren't ''normal''

You aren't a runner if you don't train so id say you are normal :D

70 mins for a half marathon off average training is very very impressive. More impressive if done by a "non committed club runner."

I don't know if you're taking the piss or not, hopefully the latter and if so get down to a club.
It took me 4/5 months of 5/6 days a week to get to 1'38.
I had a friend who ran twice a week and never raced before. I brought him to a 10 miler. I finished the race in an ok time and was waiting for him at the line to finish. My wait was in vain though as he came from the other direction. He was in 10 minutes before me and had ran 60 flat
So get down to a club

Sure most people feel grand after. Its how you feel during that counts.

I don't think you necessarily have any amazing ability or anything. If your Sunday run consists of 3 or 4 miles at 10 minutes a mile, and you can knock out a 1:35 half marathon, then that'd be fairly impressive. However, if your Sunday run is 10-15 miles long run at 7:00-7:30 per mile, and you do a bit of other sports on top of that, then 1:35 half marathon would be about what you'd expect. Especially given that you ran a marathon last year, and presumably did some half decent training?

One way or the other, 1:35 is a reasonably decent time, not special by any stretch of the imagination, but it really all depends on your circumstances as to whether you have some more potential or a huge amount more potential.

What sort of training did you do to run the 3:20 marathon? Surely more than one session a week?

I ran DCM 2010 in 3:26 and 3:28 the year previous on just my usual 5-mile run done 3/4 times per week and then literally two or three longer runs (10 miles) a couple of weeks before the marathons. I would've been slightly (or "very" if you're a serious athlete) overweight for both of them too.
Don't think it's abnormal though. I think it's just a marathon suits me (and you maybe) due to a good engine. i.e. run 1 mile at an ok pace and just get into the rhythm.

DCM 2013 is in October, btw....? :-)

Could you look up my time for DCM2013 and I'll see whether its worth training this year :)
