    Hi,

I've got an amiko alien2 with enigma2 and I have all the sat channels set up with coolepg, my problem is that I just installed a terrestrial aerial, ( I have a combiner/splitter on one of the feeds from the sat dish for the antenna) but when I do a scan of the terrestrial channels all I find is test service 1 to 7 and nine seirbhis thrialach that appear to be test cards.

What am I doing wrong? Am I scanning the incorrect frequency, is my splitter causing problems? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Which Amiko Alien 2 (T1 or T2 terrestrial tuner) and which Enigma image? For a while Enigma images didn't support the T2 tuner, they do now. You sure the tuner is set to DVB-T Europe? Did you buy the box pre-flashed or flash yourself?

It has the three tuners, for sat and dvb t if that is what you are asking, I got the enigma image off your very good guide, I had a look in the info and it is showing "enigma: 2013-03-18-master". I have tuner a set to "tuner3-T(T/C)(DVB-T)", which was Europe in the tuner configuration.

Weird that it is picking up test signals but not the stations themselves, might it be my splitter/combiner?

Update: it is working now, after rebooting it lost the test channels and found nothing, I rebooted and rescanned again and it found all of them. Really strange, but I have the channels now, thanks.

I'm still struggling with navigation, getting to the terrestrial channels, it is a bit obsessed with radio channels and I have no idea what half the buttons do, but I'm getting there.

To go to channel bouquets press ok, then blue. I think you are pressing blue without opening the menu which brings you straight to radio

Sorry to drag this thread up again, but my box had to be rebuilt (twice! that could be a thread by itself) and now I'm back to the same problem, when I do a terrestrial scan all I find are the test channels.

Why am I finding them and why can't I find anything else? I even followed instructions for manual tuning but no joy. I know it was picking them up with no problems a few days ago. All help appreciated.

These were the manual settings I used:
    Freq. 738000000
    Band. 8Mhz
    Inversion. Auto
    Constellation QAM 64
    LP Coderate 1/2
    HP Coderate 2/3
    Trans. Mode 8k
    Guard Interval 1/32
    Hierarchy None

I should have used 546000000 as I'm pointing at three rock??

Have you checked the Saorview coverage checker to see which transmitter is recommended for your area - http://www.saorview.ie/what-is-saorview/make-the-switch/coverage-map/

Freq. 738000000 is Kippure UHF Ch.54

Are you using an outdoor aerial, if so, is it a wideband or grouped aerial?

Maybe a Group C/D aerial pointing at Kippure will give you a more stable signal.

The Mux2 test channels could be transmitting a slightly higher power allowing you to pick them up better that the Mux1 channels.

Thanks for the reply, I'm just below three rock in Dundrum, I can see the aerial from the garden, I have a wideband aerial this one. I also have a splitter/combiner on it to piggyback the satellite feed.

Would the alignment of the antenna make a difference, ie if it is off by a few degress might it just be missing three rock and picking up the test channels from kippure/greystones? Maybe I need to get up on a ladder and have a look...

Silly question: I guess Mux is multiplexer, but why is there two of them?

If you're that close to 3 Rock, it won't matter what way you point the aerial, 3 Rock will be strongest.

Would be a help here if you knew which UHF channel was actually carrying these tests; they won't be on Kippure ch.54, that's the mux 1 frequency (well maybe not that much help wrt working out where mux 1 has gone, but something to start with).

I would think you'd be better off posting this query in the thread dedicated to the Alien: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056707402&page=83, as its's far more likely to be an issue with the receiver than anything else.

Should LP Coderate be 'none' if hierarchy is set to 'none', or maybe it just ignores the LP setting in that case? (Or maybe it doesn't matter, just a suggestion on my part. :))

How did you rebuild it? Did you follow my guide. the latest HDMU images should just work with either terrestrial tuner when you set it to Europe. You should be posting in the big Alien 2 thread, you'll get better answers there specific to the box

If the OP is getting the test signals that could well be the VHF mux. In Dundrum they should be aiming for 3Rock not Kippure. CH30 (546000000)
