Hi HE audio newbie here :) if this is the wrong forum for this I apologise.

I'm looking to buy for a set of Home Cinema speakers and have them connected with my Sky box, Blu-Ray player and Apple TV simultaneously. Is this possible to do? How would I go about setting it up? Also, which set would you recommend, budget is 250-300 but would consider going over if needs be?

Most blu-ray all in one home cinema systems have 2 hdmi in and 1 out so maybe invest in one and use your current blu-ray player somewhere else or sell it.

I have a sony bdv-e380 and it does a fantastic job for me. I have an xbox 360 and ps3 plugged into it plus 2 wd 2tb external drives , mind you it plays almost every file type but the odd one it doesn't play. I got it for €320 off amazon.co.uk last summer , hope this helps.

AV Receiver is your best option, Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon, etc will give good performance.
