What are the writers at WWE doing with Randy Orton these days? hes lost alot of the viciousness that has defined him over the years be it as a face or a heel. hes losing cleanly to superstars like ziggler mark henry and wade barrett making it seem likes he taken up the role of gatekeeper rather than contendor, a stepping stone for up and comers. the general consensus is that a heel turn is on the cards. while he does make an excellent heel its a shame the writers cant make it work for him as a face considered his popularity with the fans, in ring ability and mic skills(this does seem to be an area though where he is just a natural heel.) alot of people say the reason he dosen't work as a face is because of his "viper" gimmick which just isn't congruent with being a babyface, but they managed to make Eddue Gurrero work as a face with lie cheat and steal gimmick and worked it very well into his matches so why cant the same be done with orton?? :(

And its really needed, he is stale so stale, and while I can blame the writers I dunno how motivated Orton has been recently, he is only one strike from een fired and in the last few years his drawing potential has proven to be at best questionable, and at worst non existent I fear he is a bit of an afterthought currently with the writers.

It can't work because Orton's schtick was beating the superface legends when he was an up and comer. He was on the back of Flair, HHH and Batista who were majorly over. He's not interesting enough as a face and reached his plateau a year or 2 ago where it doesn't matter when he wins or loses as it wont make any difference to how strong he looks.

A heel turn is probably the only avenue left that will make him as entertaining as he was in 2009 when fueding with HHH. unfortunately every good villian needs a hero to match and I don't feel theres a face in the company at the moment with the same appeal as HHH had at the time :( A feud between Orton and Sheamus could be something good. it would rejuvinate orton and may pull Sheamus out of the mid to upper card rut he has found himself in since losing the WHC. another avenue that would be interesting would be orton becoming world champ after his heel turn initiating a feud with Ryback should he beat Mark Henry at mania. Swagger could cost Del Rio the match carrying on their feud leaving orton free to feud with someone else. it may just be what Ryback needs to become a credible world title contender. something else I would like to see is a cena heel turn at mania. it would change the entire complexion of WWE which is badly needed. I don't see it happening though given his appeal to kids :(

The sooner WWE get rid of him out of the main event/upper midcard the better. The guy clearly doesnt give a sh*t anymore and is just picking up the paycheck. Hes also incredibly dull and very repetitive in the ring IMO.

I think as a face he should have put over Cody Rhodes and Wade Barrett when those feuds were teased and starting plus they should have lasted a while longer imo, it would have helped push them up the card

He also should have gone heel a while ago but all points to this happening now at WM, I'd prefer if The Shield get the win with a clean pin and then after the match Orton punts Show, Sheamus and even Booker T, he could go on to feud with Sheamus, Del Rio, Ziggler or D Bryan

to be fair any of the wrestlers that have been around since the early 2000's their in ring work is repetitive at this stage. john cenas ring work is incredibly repetitive. hiss matches follow the same routine every time, back and forth, then his opponent takes the lead, cena looks out on his feet, then starts to come back, performs his shoulder off the rope, that inverted powerbomb he does, the 5 knuckle shuffle and the AA and the match ends. thats not something that can really be avoided. the same could be said for HHH's move set or any other long time superstar.

I watched bits of two WWE shows on Sky yesterday and Sheamus appeared in two segments, with two different 'Brogue Kick' merchandising shirts on, when Orton appeared he was wearing a plain black tee with a small WWE logo on them. My first thought was, that's actually a nice simple shirt, but then I thought, does WWE not care enough to give him a shirt anymore?! :pac:

tbh I think if it werent for bignose he'd have already been future endeavored.
right now he's about as useful as Samoa Joe was in 2011

just read samoa joe has only won TNA's world title once and that was five years ago. shocking when you consider that atleast up until i stopped watching TNA which was about two years ago he was always portayed as a monster who could never seem to be cleanly beaten.
