Optometrist Salary

Hi, I'm just wondering how much an Optometrist would generally get paid. I've searched a fair bit on Google and it seems that the pay over in the US is fantastic while over here and the UK, while being a decent salary, isn't as good.

So, I'm just wondering for anyone who might know first hand, what would the general salary be starting off here in Ireland and the UK. Also, what would be the maximum you could earn from being an optometrist.

    Thanks

I did a quick search there and found this: http://www.payscale.com/research/IE/Job=Optometrist/Salary :P

If you do your Optometrist training in Ireland or the UK it will not transfer to the USA. You can only work in the US as an Optometrist if you did your training in USA. The cost of training there is proportional to the salary.

It says on the DIT website that you have to do 18 months more study to be able to work in the US. I imagine the 18 months are at an American college, although it doesn't specify.

Apologies, that is correct but it's only offered in two of the 18 or so US Optometry colleges.

No need to apologise, you wouldn't happen to know the names of the two colleges would you?
